Left of Right 向左走, 向右走 (2001)

Program Notes

The idea of this piece came from an illustrated children book called “Left or Right." The story talks about the uncertainty of a human’s life in the simple but dramatic way. The clarinet solo in the beginning of the piece brings out the main motive - ascending and descending perfect 5^th intervals (E-A-E), to symbolize to the left and to the right.
